Te Whare Tapa Wha is a concept we talk about a lot.

They are the 4 pillars of healthy living - Your physical (taha tinana), your mental (taha hinengaro), your spiritual (taha wairua), and your family/social (taha whanau) wellbeing.



Today we will be focusing on our Taha Hinengaro - Our mental wellbeing.


Today you will be focusing on EXPLANATORY WRITING



Explanatory Writing

“Hi, my name is Emilio. This lockdown has been really tough. I find myself feeling lazy, and sad a lot of the time. What are some ways I can cheer myself up during lockdown?”


Your task for this piece of writing is to write at least 2 PEEL paragraphs giving Emilio advice on how to look after their mental health during lockdown.


You will need to give at least 2 different pieces of advice, and explain to Emilio how they could go about doing that.

Begin your paragraph writing here: Kai ora Emlllo! My name is Naomi and today I will be giving you some pretty interesting advice on what you should do during lockdown! This would help and cheer you up a bit in lockdown if you don't have anything else to do UwU First advice: First, if you haven’t got any vitamin D in you, you need to go outside to touch some grass and do some workout! Emlllo: How is this gonna make me cheer up? Me: Doing workouts will make you feel better and make you more fit during lockdown <3 


Second advice: Next, go for lovely walks or runs. Going for walks/runs is good because you're getting more fit, also you can see more people! But, Make sure to wear a mask and social distance. It wouldn’t feel nice getting covid :c Emlllo: OO, okay!


Third advice: Eating healthy is very important because you need to stay healthy, fit and more! For example: Eating the right food like veggies and fruits! Those are the two healthiest things in the world! They will even make you strong and give you more energy during lockdown UwU <3 Emlllo: Okay! I do eat pretty healthy sometimes <3 Me: Good! :3


Last advice: my last advice is, playing board games, reading books to make you smart and more! Board games are fun to play with your friends or family! If you have one of course UwU Anyways, also reading is good for your brain because it makes you more smart, good at reading and more! Reading is important as well U.U Emlllo: That sounds like a lot of fun to do during lockdown!
