→Every year we have an event that is a maori New year! The maori new year is called, matariki! Matariki is where there are nine stars up in the sky <3 how they first came alive is when the brother named tawhinmate, ripped out his eyes and crushes them…
he threw them into the sky and there was the nine stars <3 Their names were Waiti, waita, pohutukawa, Ururangi, waipuna-a-rangi, hiwa-i-te-rangi,Tupu-a-rangi and Tupu-a-nuku. In the center of the sky was This beautiful star called matariki!
The nine stars are actually visible and are cluster stars! The youngest star out of them all is, Hiwa-i-te-rangi. Hiwa-i-te-rangi is actually the wishing star! Whiti and waita are twins <3 in 2021, the matariki lights will keep on going on till the 11 july.
