Hey Naomi! This is really good work - let me help with those questions you weren't sure about.
A "chemical structure" is what a fancy way of saying what is something made of - in the case of diamonds they are a solid form of pure carbon that has been put under HUGE amounts of pressure under the earth. (Carbon is the name of a chemical element)
Because the only thing needed to turn a chunk of carbon into a diamond is pressure we've now figured out how to do this in a lab, and we can make a diamond in a much shorter time, than we would if we're waiting for Mother Nature to make them!
